Things to Do in Vinton
Vinton is a major gateway to Explore Park, with about 1,000 acres of land, which is more than enough space to play outdoors on your day off. Fishing and canoeing on the Roanoke River are a few favorite pastimes, and miles of trails are begging you to take your new bike for a test run. The park's historic area contains well-maintained homes from the 1800s, so your outdoor excursion also gives you a sense of history.
Vinton, Virginia, is home to Roanoke Valley's oldest festival: the annual Dogwood Festival. Named for the state tree, the festival includes a 5K run and other community events. The Vinton Memorial is also a special part of the community. It was dedicated in the late 1940s in honor of Vietnam War veterans, and it remains a poignant part of the town's history. The site is also an event space.
