Galloway New Jersey

Galloway Township has a rich history. Visitors and residents may stumble upon arrowheads, stone tools, and piles of old clam shells, which are all evidence of the presence of the Lenape Native American tribe, which inhabited the area before King George established it as a township in 1774. The town played an important role in the Revolutionary War, when residents intercepted British ships and transferred their supplies to American troops. The township is also said to be the place in which the legend of the Jersey Devil originated.

There is much to do in Galloway Township, New Jersey. Enjoy golfing at one of the township's famous golf clubs; Galloway was the site of the final 1942 PGA Championship and is home to the annual LPGA Shoprite Classic. Smithville boasts a variety of restored historic buildings, including the towering 3.5-story Oliphant Grist Mill. Tour one of the area wineries, which offer tours and hosts events, including murder mystery dinners, fine arts shows, and holiday celebrations. Drive through, take a hike, or go kayaking at the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge, where observers have seen 322 different bird species.

The majority of homes for sale in Galloway Township are single-family homes, but condos and apartment complexes are also common. Galloway Township, New Jersey, is primarily a residential area; however, the town is rapidly developing and new businesses are sprouting up alongside residential areas. Galloway Township is serviced by the New Jersey Transit system. Take a bus trip to local Stockton University, or venture on to Atlantic City or Mays Landing.
